The BG Göttingen celebrates a very important home win in the basketball league. In front of 3001 spectators, after two big defeats, there was a 92:74 (50:41) win against Brose Bamberg that was just as clear as it deserved.

Göttingen – The violets thus create a good starting position for the next games. Captain Harper Kamp (26 points) and Rayshaun Hammonds (23) stand out.

Javon Bess is again absent from the violets after celebrating his comeback in Ludwigsburg. But he’s twisted again. But Nick Boakye is in the team – in the afternoon he was still playing for the ASC in the regional league.

Started strong and then dropped sharply – that’s how the first quarter in the S-Arena can be described. Harper Kamp is unstoppable and gives the violets a 4-0 lead. And even then it can’t be stopped. The BG captain scored the first ELF(!) points on his own. The luck of the throw is not kind to the others – too many tickets.

That’s why BG has long fallen behind against Bamberg, who are missing two players in center Miller and playmaker Bell. At 11:17 the deficit is already six points. But then Rayshaun Hammonds is there, can shorten as well as Mathis Mönninghoff and Hammonds again. Nevertheless, the first quarter is gone with 17:22.

In the second, a threesome festival begins on both sides. Eight threes in a row, Hammonds’ first two for the Violets. But the Franks are staunchly opposed, also hitting from beyond the perimeter.

And when the threes work out, the BG goes straight to the front. After a quarter of an hour she is 37:32 ahead – the fans are celebrating. And Kamp turns it into 39:32. But at Bamberg, Chris Sengfelder in particular cannot be eliminated: Three threes before the break, not bad. But also creates Göttingen’s Hammonds.

The BG game lives on the two Big Men in the first half: Kamp 13 points, Hammonds even 17. But also significant: The violets confirm their reputation as the worst rebounding team in the BBL: The duel goes 13 in the first 20 minutes: 19 lost – the BG even allows the Franks nine offensive rebounds again. 33:19 in the second quarter with a 44 percent chance of three, that speaks for the offensive strength of the Göttingen team.

After the break, Mark Smith is finally there: first three. Kamp puts the lead at 55:44, which looks good. But then several referee decisions that are difficult to understand follow, which bring Bamberg back on track. Although BG is still in the lead, it has melted down. After 27 minutes it is 64:58, after 30 minutes only 69:65.

But the violets showed steadfastness this time, can even increase in the last quarter and extend the lead again. As at the beginning, Kamp in particular is unstoppable. In the last 2:34 minutes, the captain again added strong ELF points, scoring from 81:74 to 92:74 alone. “Our team has created advantages for me,” Kamp beams afterwards. Coach Moors: “Kamp and Hammonds didn’t win the game, it was our team’s defense in the second half.”

BG: Hammonds 23/davon 3 Dreier, Frey 14/3, Crandall 6, Boakye 3/1, Hemschemeier (ne), Smith 7/1, Mönninghoff 2, Kamp 26/1, Pape 11/3, Giotis (ne), Besselink 3/1.

Bamberg’s best pitchers: Sengfelder 22/4, Wohlrath 16/2, Chachashvili 13, Reaves 11/3. (Helmut Anschütz/gsd)
