JUDO. On December 3 and 4, 15 athletes from the Saint-Georges Judo Club took part in the provincial development tournament in Repentigny. It was the last competition on the provincial circuit in 2022.
Nearly 700 judokas of all levels and from across the province took part in this competition. Seven Beauce athletes climbed the podium. Métis Couture is the one who stood out the most with two medals, one silver and another bronze, in the -57 kg category for the U18s and U21/seniors.
Magalie Hins (U14 -36 kg), William Maheux (U16 -38 kg) and Raphaël Therrien (U16 -55 kg) finished second. Mahmoud Dhkouri (U21/senior -100 kg) and Mathéo Salazar (U14 -46 kg) climbed on the last step of the podium.
“This last competition on the provincial circuit in 2022 allows us to end the year on a very positive note! Judo is very well established in Beauce. The Beauce judokas radiate across the province and the next generation is in place,” concludes the organization.
