JJ Watt stunned Arizona Cardinals with retirement announcement

Justin James Watt surprised locals and strangers by announcing that at the end of the 2022 season his NFL career will end. The most surprised were Arizona Cardinalsa team to which he is still linked at work.

During the press conference on Wednesday, head coach Kliff Kingsbury stated that he had no idea the three-time Defensive Player of the Year would be saying goodbye to the field.

I’m happy for him, we had no idea he would retire, but he is a tremendous person, a great player. I think this is a special moment for him, for the organization and for the entire NFL,” said the head coach.

In addition, Kingsbury noted that Watt has sought to engage with the Cardinals’ offense in the last two games of the year.. The Wisconsis graduate is one of two players (Deion Sanders) with multiple touchdown receptions and several interceptions returned to the end zone.

His offensive touchdowns came in 2014, two thanks to passes by Ryan Fitzpatrick and another by Ryan Mallett. In regular season, Watt records two pick-sixes, one against the Raiders in 2014 and another against the Lions in 2020. In the playoffs he also managed to score via interception since in 2012 he stole a pass from Andy Dalton and took it to the promised land.
