For more than eight months, the people of Itagüis have waited to celebrate the arrival of the 45th Departmental Sports Games 2022, whose final will take place in the municipality between December 5 and 16.
There are 6,681 registered athletes from 104 municipalities of Antioquia, who will compete in 31 sports disciplines during 11 days in what promises to be the best sports games in the history of the department.
The initial ceremony will feature a parade of delegations, the interpretation of the hymns by the renowned Itagüiseña soprano Beatriz Mora Estrada, together with the Ciudad de Itagüí Symphonic Band, the departmental fire tour, a sports ceremonial by 150 girls from the institutions San José and Juan N. Cadavid schools, among other surprises.
To receive the Departmental Games, Itagüí prepared more than 20 sports and recreational scenarios to carry out the different competitions.
The sports that will compete are: weightlifting, archery, bicicros, skating, athletics, mountain biking, cycling, chess, swimming, underwater activities, Olympic wrestling, boxing, karate do, taekwondo, judo, table tennis, field tennis , badminton, soccer, basketball, futsal, volleyball, shuffleboard, indoor soccer, rugby, beach volleyball, baseball, ultimate, handball, and in adapted sports: para-athletics and para-swimming.
The inauguration event will take place today, Monday, December 5, at 6:00 pm at the Ciudad de Itagüí Metropolitan Stadium.
