Irene Pedrotti gold at the Assoluti Italiani 2022

At the Pala-Duecento in Turin the Absolute Italian Judo Championship for men and women was held between Saturday and Sunday, 11 and 12 December. A structure built for the 200th Italian Olympic medal, dedicated to the judoka Fabio Basile from Settimo Torinese.

More than 380 athletes and 145 clubs were present, competing for the most coveted national title, as far as Judo is concerned.

Irene Pedrotti, athlete born in Trento, moved from Bologna and now to Turin, for five years now to train with the most valid Italian technicians.

She wins the Italian title, in the category up to 70 kg, beating Carlotta Zeme of Kumiai, Ludovica Franzosi, Anna Righetti and in the final against Cecilia Betemps of Akiyama Settimo Torinese who had to leave the scepter to Irene.

An Italian title, strongly desired, which comes after the bronze in the absolutes in 2019, and after having entered the senior national team on a permanent basis, in the Olympic race towards Paris 2024, the only civilian athlete at the moment.

The sacrifices are many, but Irene’s strength and constancy then pays off with results, the next appointment in January, the Grand Prix in Almada in Portugal.
