It’s been a good Christmas in Belgrade. After the debut of Facundo Campazzo, Estrella Roja has announced its agreement with Meridian Bet, which will be included in the official name of the team. But what is special about it? As reported by the club and collected by Basketnews, it will be the largest in the history of Serbian basketball.
“We have won many trophies, but we have even more ambitions. In this sense, this cooperation is significant, and I am glad that you have recognized our work at Meridian. We negotiated for several months before reaching an agreement. Our previous main sponsor, Telekom, will remain in our group. In recent weeks, more and more sponsors have come forward who recognize that they can achieve marketing and business goals at Zvezda.”affirmed the president of Red Star, Nebojsa Covic.
“There was a controversy about the money we spent on Campazzo, which was state money. We announced our budget inspection, but other clubs did not. I don’t even know why you in the media don’t investigate it.
“Zvezda has nothing to do with it, it’s a matter between Vildoza and Baskonia”, said regarding the situation of Luca Vildoza.
«The budget for this season, the first team with the coaching staff, including Campazzo and Vildoza, is 9.5 million. It’s around 11 million, including our youth team expenses and everything else.”
«Campazzo and Vildoza are two top players, two NBA players, and we managed to bring them back [a Europa]. We are becoming more competitive. We climb and get close to the top where the wind blows, but our goal is to stay there. We should be satisfied that these players came, but we would also be satisfied if they went to other clubs. All debts with the players have been settled.”
