“If you win, I send you a bus full of prostitutes”

BarcelonaSilvio Berlusconi continues to make headlines with masculinity. On Tuesday he celebrated a Christmas dinner with the players of the team he owns, AC Monza. As an incentive he offered them “a bus full of prostitutes” if they beat one of the big first division teams in the Italian football league, which they have been promoted to this year.

The 86-year-old Italian ex-prime minister, who had to face justice for having organized parties with underage prostitutes, has now regained his seat, after ten years disqualified for tax fraud. His party, the far-right Forza Italia, is part of the governing coalition of post-fascist Giorgia Meloni. The tycoon bought the team in 2018.

The video was shared via Twitter. In front of his partner, Marta Fascina, and the players, Berlusconi – microphone in hand and while being filmed by some professional cameras – exhibits the culture of rape: “We found a good coach, kind, able to stimulate our boys. I I’ve also given our players an extra boost… If you beat one of the big teams, I’m sending you a busload of hookers to the locker room.” The audience’s response: laughter.

Under Berlusconi’s presidency, Monza was last year promoted to Serie A, the top division of Italian football, after 110 years. In September he fired the coach, Giovanni Stroppa, and replaced him with the current one, Raffaele Palladino, who is achieving good results and keeping the team away from the relegation zone. The team now face a difficult return to action after the World Cup break, with Inter visiting Monza on January 7 and Berlusconi’s side traveling to Turin on the 29th to face Juve.
