Health of Brazilian football icon Pelé (82) is deteriorating again | Football

The health of football legend Pelé is deteriorating again. The hospital where the 82-year-old Brazilian was admitted announced on Wednesday that his colon cancer is getting worse. The former attacker needs extra care because of problems with his kidneys and heart.

The last period seemed to go in the right direction with Pelé. “His condition continues to improve, especially the respiratory infection,” his doctors said a week and a half ago.

Pelé was diagnosed with colon cancer last year, after which a tumor was removed. He was hospitalized again in late November. The three-time world champion (1958, 1962, 1970) has metastases in his body, according to Brazilian media.

Two daughters previously denied the news that their father was receiving palliative care because the cancer chemotherapy would not work.

Pelé has been struggling with health problems for years. In 2016 he was supposed to light the Olympic flame at the opening of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, but then he had to cancel at the last minute due to physical discomfort.
