He climbed to the top of the obelisk, was filmed and went viral: the unusual explanation of his controversial celebration for the National Team

On December 20, 9 de Julio Avenue was the scene of the largest popular mobilization in Argentine history. Between euphoria, joy and tears, more than 5 million people gathered in the vicinity of the Obelisk to wait for the Argentine World Cup winners in Qatar. It was a celebration never seen before and the images went around the world.

On an atypical holiday, the streets of downtown Buenos Aires began to fill up from 7 in the morning and the excesses did not take long to appear. There were people up at the traffic lights waving blue and white flags, others climbed to the roof of the Metrobus haranguing with chants and many who even dared to climb the columns of the 25 May Highway at the announcement that the “Scaloneta” would salute from there.

The end is already known. That never happened and the caravan of soccer players that began by land, in buses, ended by air, in helicopters. The previous madness was unimaginable and there were celebrations that even bordered on tragedy, such as the decision made by some thirty fans: They climbed to the top of the Obelisk and filmed the crowd from 67 meters high.

One of them was Facundo, who He shared a video of his transgressive feat on his Tik Tok account @facusasa and it went viral. There you can see the young man leaning out of one of the windows of the emblematic Buenos Aires monument with the National Team shirt and a light blue and white flag hanging from his neck, making a selfie panoramic to the rhythm of the hitMuchaachos…”, of the fly

The Tik Tok that Facka filmed had more than 4 million reproductions

The video, which already got more than 4 million views and harvested almost 360 mil likesnot only made his followers grow resoundingly – he went from 9 to 18 thousand in a day – but also criticism for his audacity.

“Partying at the Obelisk was taken very literally”, “The Federal Police watching the video and who is that boy”, “Everyone waiting for his cell phone to drop”, “They should fine you for going up without permission”, “Now you They are looking to put you in jail ”, were some of the comments. But the question people asked the most was how did he get up there.

“I know that there are many people who criticize me for being a bardero”, admitted the young man -who is nicknamed Facka- when interviewed by Infobae. “I did not break or vandalize anything. When I got to the Obelisk the door was open and I entered. It is difficult to try to explain it to people who write terrible things to me, ”he said, referring to the repercussions of his actions.

That morning, Facka was “re-handled” with the three-time championship. He watched the arrival of the players at Ezeiza, he stayed awake all night and at 7 in the morning he took the San Martín train, from Hurlingham to Retiro, and an hour later he was already in the Plaza de la República.

He traveled alone but had arranged to meet a colleague to shoot content for his YouTube channel. The mission was for people to tell what promises he had made if he won the Selection and if he had fulfilled them.

“The day before we had seen on TV that they had vandalized the Obelisk and left the door and the gate broken. We expected to find a security operation in place so that it would not happen again, but it did not. As we got closer we saw the door open and said ‘this is our chance.’ It was 8:10,” he recalled.

The young man swears that it was not something planned. Far from understanding that his actions were inappropriate and that he was violating the rules, the young man said that he was “invaded by adrenaline” and that in the midst of the euphoria that was being experienced, he did not hesitate to climb the 206 steps of the marine ladder that is located inside to reach the top.

“It was all animalistic,” admitted the young man who was filmed from the top of the Obelisk

“As soon as we passed the gate there were already more than 30 people climbing. It was all an animal because the stairs are very narrow. People were trying to organize and shouting ‘up two, down one’ to go making space ”, he related about that moment of lack of control.

“When I got to the top, I waited for my partner. Upstairs there were about 15 people. We were standing on a plank of wood and veneer that could have crumbled from so much weight. There I was a little scared but I was already played “, he confessed. He spent 10 minutes at the viewpoint, made the video and got down as best he could, invaded by panic.

“There were men and women alike, old and young people. But there was a moment when the madness was total and that’s when the token fell on me. ‘What am I doing here?‘ I wondered when I saw that a group of friends uncorked a wine and began to drink almost 70 meters high. There I looked at my colleague and told him ‘Let’s go’. The thing stung and anything could happen because we were on a limited surface. At one point I came to think that someone could die ”be sincere.

When they left the Obelisk, they observed that an endless line of people had formed waiting to go up. “It never occurred to me for a moment that when I left the police could be there and take me to jail. The emotion was so great that I didn’t even think about it. I thought the video could be good and I got carried away by the moment. I know that what I did was wrong and I am criticized, but I want to make it clear that I did not break anything. It came out to me to do something like that but I’m not one to go around doing those crazy things all the time, “insisted the young man.

“At one point I came to think that someone could die,” he opened up about his decision to climb the Obelisk

Around 2:00 p.m., when it was already rumored that the players were not going to go to the Obelisk and the adrenaline had almost disappeared, Facka returned home.

With regard to the repercussion that occurred in his family environment, he avoided giving details and limited himself to saying that “they were shocked” and that they had a talk that he prefers to “preserve”.

The paradox of what happened that day is that while the young man watched in amazement from his home as two men jumped from a bridge on the Ricchieri Highway to fall into the National Team’s bus, this is how the thousands of fans who waved from below the Obelisk while filming content for their networks.
