Haunting images and goosebumps in the first trailer for the psycho-drama series “The Night Logan Woke Up” by exceptional director Xavier Dolan – Series News

French-Canadian director Xavier Dolan is back with The Night Logan Woke Up. The first trailer for the oppressive mini-series promises intense images and dark family secrets and brings back memories of “The Festival”.

Xavier Dolan is an absolutely exceptional talent in the film industry, because the now 33-year-old French Canadian is an auteur filmmaker, actor, director, film producer, screenwriter and voice actor in one and does many of the activities in his films himself.

With “Laurence Anyways”, “Mommy” or “Don’t say who you are!” the filmmaker delivered impressive dramas that get under your skin and have an effect on the audience for weeks to come. After a small creative crisis, he finally got back on track with “Matthias & Maxime”. And also the first trailer for Dolan’s mini-series “The Night Logan Woke Up’ already conjures up a gloomy goose bumps mood in impressively oppressive images.

The French-Canadian drama series is an adaptation of Michel Marc Bouchard’s play “La nuit où Laurier Gaudreault s’est réveillé”. As you would expect from Xavier Dolan, the filmmaker not only directed, but also wrote, produced, and plays one of the main characters in the 5-part mini-series.

That’s what “The Night Logan Woke Up” is about

In the early 1990s, Mimi (Julie LeBreton), her brother Julian (Patrick Hivon) and Logan (Pier-Gabriel Lajoie) are an inseparable trio. Julian and Logan play baseball together and have just won the regional championship with their team and Mimi dreams of a life in the theater.

But one night in October 1991, the life of the trio changes in one fell swoop when Mimi is raped by Logan. Three decades later, Mimi returns home after the death of her mother and past trauma, family secrets and deeply buried hatred come to the surface.

Anyone who is reminded of intense psycho-dramas like Thomas Vinterberg’s “Das Fest” when reading this synopsis should not be completely wrong. When and where Xavier Dolan’s “The Night Logan Woke Up” will also be shown in Germany is not yet known.

Not on Netflix or Amazon: Here’s the best streaming film of the year so far – but hardly anyone watches it!
