Gladbach: Borussia return? Martin Stranzl with plain language

The boss! That’s what Martin Stranzl was called in the dressing room during his time in Gladbach.

The 42-year-old Austrian worked from 2011 to 2016 Borussia Monchengladbach been under contract.

As a central defender, head of defence, top performer and leading player, Stranzl was not lucky enough to win a title with the rhombus on his jersey.

Nevertheless, he has developed a standing in the club and with the fans on the left side of the Lower Rhine, which should be tantamount to an important title hero.

He says: “Very!” Before Stranzl adds: “I’m proud to have become part of the history of Borussia Mönchengladbach. I hope im Borussia-Park history continues to be made.”

In the past few months there have been repeated rumors surrounding Borussia that Stranzl will soon be taking on a job with the five-time champions from Gladbach. Management, coaching staff, presidency, there were some conjectures floating around.

We learn: A timely Stranzl entry is currently not an issue at VfL.

But: Looking to the future, a spectacular return of the former cabin boss could be in the offing.

GladbachLIVE dug into the former Austrian national player accordingly.

Stranzl openly admits: “Borussia has a very special place in my heart. I keep emphasizing it: Borussia is the club that has given me a lot.”

When asked if he noticed the standing he still has in the Borussia fan scene, Stranzl replies: “Of course I get that. I’m not shot out of the world completely, for God’s sake. Even if things tend to be very quiet at home.”

And: “I’ll say it quite openly: For me it’s my personal championship, that I know how I’m seen here in the club. At Borussia, no matter when I call, I’m always met with open ears. No matter when I come, the conversations are always open and I am warmly welcomed. Be it from them Fans, be it from those responsible. That’s incredibly important to me.”

Specifically followed up: Is a Gladbach return conceivable?

Stranzl: “We’ll see what happens. Of course, I would be happy to return to Borussia at some point.”

He also says: “Of course, you always have a certain amount of planning. Family is the priority right now. The club knows that too. But the children will grow up at some point and I’m in the process of continuing my education.”

He is currently taking the time to “filter out” what is right for him after his career.

“At Borussia I know that I’m welcome.”

First of all, the Austrian continues to complete the training in several areas.

“I’m doing the UEFA A license at the moment, I also plan to do sports management specifically for football. The Austrian Bundesliga offers this. In addition to the training, it’s also about gaining experience and getting a taste of it.”

Stranzl: “At the moment I feel very comfortable being with the family. At the same time, I deal with tasks that could lie in the future and be prepared accordingly.”

Means: Stranzl could tackle Borussia again.
