Fundaredes counted 41 homicides in six border states in November

During the month of November, the NGO Fundaredes registered 41 homicides, 21 disappearances or kidnappings and eight confrontations armed forces in six of the country’s eight border states.

In its most recent report, the organization noted that Zulia state was the one that registered the most cases of violence with 18 homicides3 missing and 6 armed confrontations.

He added that in the most dangerous area of ​​this region, the municipality of Cañada de Urdaneta, the “struggle to the death” prevails for control of the territories between organized gangs, which increases uncertainty and «panic among the inhabitants.

For his part, Bolívar state accumulated 13 homicides6 missing and 2 armed confrontations.

«It is a state used as a route for the transit of drugs and minerals, causing disputes between criminal gangs, who live off the benefits derived from these illegal activities, mainly affecting the municipalities of El Callao, Sifontes and El Dorado.” added.

Fundaredes maintained that in the state of Táchira (west, bordering Colombia) there were 3 homicides and 8 disappearances, which “It reflects that intimidation by irregular armed groups and gangs that operate at irregular crossings continues to cause fear among citizens who transit the border.”

In the coastal state of falconthe NGO documented 5 homicides and 2 disappearances and in Apure 2 homicides and 1 disappearance.

In the state Amazonas there was a disappearance, but Fundaredes recorded “guerrilla settlements, where the communities have demanded the eviction of the invaders, but unfortunately the authorities do not exercise forceful actions against these groups”.
