Full judo mat at the end of the year

It has now become a good tradition that the judo department of SG Eltmann invites you to parent-child training shortly before Christmas. In addition, many judo enthusiasts recently came to the Georg Schäfer Halle and had fun on the judo mat for two hours. Among the approximately 100 participants were many parents who accompanied their children onto the mat, but also one or two former parents who took the opportunity to get a taste of judo on the tatami again.

First of all, however, all trainers, officials and volunteers in the judo department were asked to come forward by the department head Edgar Riedl and, to the loud applause of everyone present, received a small token of appreciation for their commitment to the department in the past year and a huge thank you for their commitment. without whom the department would not exist in this form.

It started with the fourth element of judo: taiso. A form of gymnastics that got the circulation and body going and prepared everyone for the balloon games that followed. Then it was all about balancing the balloon in the air, alone or in pairs. It got turbulent when you had to hit the balloon of your opponent to the ground, but the person tried to prevent this if possible. The first duel exercise, similar to judo, was about conquering the balloon of your partner. Now there was real movement on the mat. It got loud when everyone had to pop their balloons.

It went from being released from a pinning hold to a kneeling fight to a simple judo throw. At the end of the active part there were team competitions in the judo variant of scissors, rock, paper. Then the head of department, with the support of Krissi Roos and Anna Riedl, gave a short introduction to the new DJB graduation system and then 20 judoka received their new judo belts.

This ended a successful, sweaty and fun evening for everyone involved and at the same time the sports year of the judo department of SG Eltmann.
