Football: US Orléans has its new coach… and it’s Nicolas Usaï!

US Orléans formalized, Wednesday, December 28, the arrival of Nicolas Usaï on his benchfree since the departure of Xavier Collin, on December 20, 2022. The club is holding, this Wednesday at the start of the evening, a press conference at La Source stadiumto present his new strong man, whose arrival was hardly in doubt in recent hours.

Still in post in Nîmes (Ligue 2) in Novemberthis 48-year-old Marseillais did not hesitate to dive back, only forty days after his dismissal from the Gard club. At the USO, his mission will be to get the team out of its current bad patch (11th in the National, with 19 points) and to help him find a ranking more in line with his ambitions.

Accustomed to challenges during the season

This former defender converted to coaching at 32is used to challenges during the season. These last three professional clubs called on him under these conditions : Sedan (November 2016), Châteauroux (October 2018) and Nîmes (January 2022). Only in the Ardennes where the story ended in relegation under his orders.

Before opting for the candidacy of Nicolas Usaï, Philippe Boutron, the Orléans president, notably studied those of Laurent Peyrelade, Matthieu Chabert and Frédéric Hantz. The latter, with a more assertive Ligue 1 profile, had signed up before retracting.

National Football: two points less in the standings for US Orléans?

Nicolas Usaï will make his debut in official competition with US Orléans, Friday January 13at La Source, against Dunkirk, for the last match of the first leg of National.
