Fluminense agreed to hire left-back Jorge. The 26-year-old player was this Thursday (22/12) at the Carlos Castilho Training Center to sign a loan contract until December 2023 with an option to buy. The athlete will wear shirt number 6 in Tricolor.
“I confess that I was anxious to arrive here on this big day, to introduce myself to a big club. I know the pressure that will be playing at Fluminense, that there is a lot of pressure and I’m used to that. I feel very happy to be part of this group that Fluminense has today. I’m going to do my best, I’m coming with a lot of desire to play and be happy”, said the player.
Jorge accumulates summons for the Brazilian National Team in several categories, including for the main team. In 2015, he was world runner-up with the under-20 team, when he was named the best left-back in the league. The athlete began his career in Rio de Janeiro, defending Flamengo. In 2017, he moved to Europe, where he played for Porto, Portugal, and Monaco, France. Two years later, he returned to Brazil to play for Santos. That year, he won the Silver Ball as the best left-back in the Brazilian Championship. After the end of his loan spell, he returned to European football to play for Basel in Switzerland. Last year, he was hired permanently by Palmeiras.
“I come here to win titles, something the fans expect so much. I go into every training session and every game with that spirit and that will to win to reach the end of important championships, making the tricolor fans happy”, he declared.
Jorge is the sixth reinforcement announced by Tricolor, which had already closed with striker Keno, right-back Guga, attacking midfielder Lima, defender Vitor Mendes and goalkeeper Vitor Eudes. The club also renewed with important players for the team, such as striker Germán Cano, midfielder Paulo Henrique Ganso, midfielder André and defender Manoel, in addition to formalizing the stay of coach Fernando Diniz.
