Nothing to reproach a team that has fought against everything this season. In a correct performance, Fernandez Vial they lost 0-2 to U. de Chile in the semifinals of the tournament.
There was not even a minute of play when the blues almost opened the account. It was the best wake-up call for a team that couldn’t count on its stellar defense from the start. A left-footed shot from Fernández at 14′ put the aurinegro goal in jeopardy again, a table that reached the blue goal at risk when they went 35′, with a free kick almost at ground level from Pérez, who had the reaction of the archer Correa.
It seemed that at half-time they were level without goals, until five minutes of terror cost the locals dearly. At 41′, Keefe beat Lecaros back and with a “balloon” made it 1-0 for the “U”. A goal. The aurinegras felt the blow and at 45′ they lamented another conquest, originated after a cross into the area where Barría headed and the ball was served to Fernández, to push the ball with a very smooth left-footed shot, which slowly entered the goal. Thus, the “U” won it 2-0 before going to rest.
Zaracho made changes after halftime and without the urgency of increasing the figures, the visitors slowed down a bit and bet on the spaces that Fernandez Vial could leave at the bottom. The aurinegras improved in that facet after the entry of Castilla.
To the applause, that of Caniguán, who searched as best he could and shouldered the team, generating the clearest goal opportunities for his team and even contributing in defense.
