Eldense, Linares, Nàstic and La Nucía, surprises of the cup night

Eldense, Linares Deportivo, Gimnástic de Tarragona and La Nucía, all of them from the First RFEF, extended the cupbearer dream and will be this Friday in the draw for the third round of the Copa del Rey, after getting off the competition this Thursday Burgos, Racing Santander, Málaga and Las Palmas, respectively.

Eldense 1 – 0 Burgos

Neither the difference in category, nor the great campaign carried out by the team from Burgos, fourth ranked in LaLiga SmartBank, could prevent the surprise at the Nuevo Pepico Amat in Elda, where the team from Alicante was clearly superior to its rival for many minutes. A greater intensity that found its reward with a minute to go before the end of the first half with Aitor Córdoba’s goal, which he established in his own goal, which would ultimately be the final 1-0.

Linares 1 – 0 Racing

Much more agonizing was the triumph of Linares Deportivo, which beat Racing de Santander, a LaLiga SmartBank team, 1-0, with a goal from Samu Corral after 92 minutes of play. Something that allowed the team from Jaén to emulate the feat carried out in the 1976/77 season by the extinct Linares CF, then in the Third Division, by eliminating Racing de Santander from the Copa del Rey, which at that time was a member of the First Division, in the penalty shootout, after concluding with a draw both the first leg and the second leg.

Nastic 2 – 1 Malaga

A whole rebellion of the teams of the First RFEF to which Nàstic de Tarragona also joined, after surprising a historic team like Málaga 2-1 this Thursday, currently in LaLiga SmartBank, thanks to a goal from midfielder Pablo Fernández with nine minutes to go.

La Nucia 0 (6) – (5) 0 Las Palmas

Elimination that Las Palmas, the new leader of LaLiga SmartBank, could not avoid either, after losing 6-5 in the penalty shootout against La Nucía, a team from the First RFEF, in a clash that ended with a draw (0-0) after 120 game minutes. A time marked by expulsions, since if at 78 minutes the Canarian team was left with one less man due to the double yellow card that defender Enrique Clemente saw, in minute 113 the forces were equalized with the expulsion of the local player Rubén Saiz , a circumstance that condemned both teams to a penalty shootout in which the Alicante team did not miss Fabio González’s failure to win and the ticket for the third round when Adrián León transformed the final 6-5.

Oviedo 1 – 0 Granada

For their part, Oviedo sealed their qualification for the third round of the Copa del Rey after beating Granada 1-0 this Thursday, in the only matchup between LaLiga SmartBank teams, thanks to a goal by Oscar Luengo after eight minutes, in a match in which the Nasrid team crashed again and again with the local goalkeeper Tomeu Nadal.

Other results

In the rest of the games on Thursday, Gernika lost 3-0 to Celta de Vigo, Cacereño eliminated Girona 2-1 and Atlético went through to the next round at the expense of Arenteiro (1-3).
