Eldense – Calahorra: chronicle, result and summary

The eldense put the finishing touch to an unforgettable year that ended as solo leader of Group 2 of Primera RFEF after having closed the celebrations of its centenary and having achieved promotion to said category. He did it with a win at home against Calahorra in which he showed his superiority from the first minute, although he did not manage to make a difference on the scoreboard until the second half.

The lack of success prevented Eldense from taking advantage in the first half, in which he exercised practically complete control over his opponent, comfortably exceeding 70% possession of the ball. However, when it came to defining the locals they were unable to hit the mark against Limones.

The clearest ones for Deportivo were Soberón, with a cross shot before which the visiting goalkeeper took an excellent foot; Fran Carnicer, with a shot from the penalty spot to Toni Abad’s center that defined fatally and Nieto, who with great control of a long ball managed to get away from Luna and remain alone against Limones, but He finished off the meta’s body in a very innocent way.

The people from La Rioja, for their part, only came out of the cave on a couple of occasions, although they did so to give several scares to the Very Pepico in two corners finished off by Luna and in a closed center by Sergio Gil from the right wing that was poisoned and that Baselga failed to connect well in the small area.

The last of the first act was by Ortuño, with a shot from the edge of the area that had a lot of intention, but which was met with another good intervention by Limones, very confident defending the bottom goal.

Nieto regrets after missing an occasion in the first half Matias Segarra

the goals arrive

The duel restarted in the same way, with a shot from Nieto 50 seconds into the second half. The long-awaited goal that opened the Eldense account came after 51 minutes, after a long pass from Toni Abad that Luna did not reach and that Soberón defined perfectly to score his seventh goal of the course and caress the solo leadership with the fingertips.

Before the local sentence, Calahorra had their best option to score in a play in which they put several dangerous crosses. One of them, by Sergio Gil, closed so much that he ended up surprising Vallejo and hitting the post. Shortly after, Nieto found his long-awaited goal when he left Adrián Jiménez for speed and power and defined with a subtle strike against a desperate Limoneswho could do little in the goals conceded.

From there to the end, carousel of changes. Those of Eldense to contain the result and those of Calahorra to look for a reaction that never came, since Correia and Juanto scored the third and fourth for the locals in discount. With the referee’s triple whistle, the blaugranas added the three points thanks to a win that will allow Eldense fans to experience the happiest Christmas in a long time, as sole leaders on their way to the silver division.
