For the second time in a week, Union has beaten KV Oostende in-house. In the Croky Cup, the redemption only followed in the final phase, in the competition Union was allowed to add the three points a little earlier. Dante Vanzeir put the icing on the cake in extra time.

- Key moment: Shortly after the break, the ball hit the spot for Union. A lightly awarded penalty, after some pulling work from Capon at Lazare, but Teuma doesn’t care about that. With a flawless eleven meter he puts Union on the way to winning.
- Man of the match: The beauty prize goes to Victor Boniface, but Teddy Teuma was just a little more efficient. The Union captain gave a good example with his penalty goal and also signed for a nice assist for Vanzeir just before the end.
- Remarkable: Union continues to build an impressive series. It is now 10 games without defeat. The last loss dates back to September 11. Then the vice champion lost to Racing Genk at home.
Promising start will not be followed up
Union sensed its chance after Club Brugge’s loss of points, while Ostend was eager for revenge after the narrow cup elimination in the Joseph Marien Stadium last week. The coast team didn’t start the game badly either, although most of the threat came from Union.
Phillips had to start after five minutes on a free kick from Teuma and a few minutes later Urhoghide could only just work the ball in front of Boniface for a corner kick. Ostend also contributed, a shot by Bätzner went just wide.
However, the promising start was not continued. Boniface colored the first half with his flashy actions, but opportunities were not created. A logical 0-0 rest position was the result.
The home team was especially dangerous in the first half through Boniface.
Union gets the job done after a light penalty
One framed goal attempt, that was the meager balance of the first half. The second half immediately produced fireworks. Lazare felt Capon’s hand on his shoulder and went down very eagerly in the box. Enough for a penalty, both ref Denil and the VAR thought. Teuma converted the eleven meter flawlessly: 1-0.
More than 10 minutes later, Union struck again. Outstanding Boniface put Urhoghide to the wind, passed the ball well for Adingra and he easily made it 2-0. Ostend suddenly faced a tough challenge.
The assignment turned out to be too heavy for the underaged coastal team. Union didn’t push too hard anymore, but kept things under control. Just before the end, Vanzeir scored the highlight for the home team. On a pass from Teuma, he chased the ball wonderfully into the roof of the goal in one time.
