A medical bulletin on Friday said the 82-year-old was responding well to treatment for the infection and that his overall health had improved. Folha de S. Paulo also reported that Pelé was taken to the hospital with swelling and heart problems. The former star striker of Brazil, FC Santos and New York Cosmos posted on Instagram on Thursday that he was in the hospital for the monthly check-up and that he thanked all the fans for the messages of support they had received. He also posted a photo of his face projected onto a building in Qatar alongside a message that read “Get well soon”.
