The NBA has fined the Celtics’ Al Horford $25,000 for making “excessive and unnecessary contact” with the lower body of Orlando Magic’s Moritz Wagner in a loss at Boston, the league announced Sunday. .
The 36-year-old Dominican was called for a flagrant two foul and ejected for elbowing Wagner during the third quarter of Boston’s 117-109 loss to Orlando on Friday night.
At the time of the ejection, Horford had six points and six boards. He had returned to the lineup with the NBA-leading Celtics after missing five games.
Wagner finished with 25 points for the Magic, who had their fifth straight win.
Both teams meet again on Sunday in Boston.
