Céline Phanthavong, nugget of French badminton

At 13, Céline Phanthavong is a very promising growth in the badminton section of the ESV. She distinguished herself on the national scene on November 6, during the Elite young national circuit in Saint-Louis in Alsace, rising to the 6the place in the French classification, and multiplies the competitions in France and abroad, in particular on December 10th.

“At each stage, only the 12 best French people of each year of birth are qualified and 12 pairs in doubles, explains Fabien Julien, technical coordinator for the section, including Céline in single lady U14, 11e French qualified thanks to her victory in the interregional circuit. Well she prevailed on the 8e French, the 5e French bronze medalist and the 4e French selected in the France team. She only lost in the final against the French and European number 1!

Very proud of this progress, he recognizes in him, “a good natural power, a good varied range of technical shots, pillar of our training method at ES Vitry badminton. She still has to work on her regularity to avoid slumps, he believes, controlling the trajectories in the delay and gaining self-confidence ”.

Céline Phanthavong started practicing at the age of 6, following the example of her cousins, then enrolled at the ESV like her brother Victor, who also stands out. She likes club games.

“It’s fun in training, often I laugh with the others. I started playing in the department, I won and I liked to continue. This year, I have a lot more competitions than last year, she admits, sometimes every weekend with 15-day breaks. »

Its strong point? Amortizations. “When we are at the baseline, for example, we send the shuttlecock trying to ensure that the opponent does not know what we are going to do, we do not know where the shuttle is going to end up, like my coach taught me “. An effect that she likes to give in smatches, clearances, straight or crossed slices and straight or crossed drop shots… “But often I vary the shots because if I always do the drop shot fixation, it doesn’t work…”

The most of badminton on a daily basis, for her, is concentration, which is also very useful at school, and physical resistance.
