Captain David Cano ends a lifetime dedicated to Palamós

After the game against Can Gibert two Sundays ago, you could already sense that something was happening. The captain of Palamós, David Cano, announced the following day his retirement and will no longer wear the Dean’s shirt. Cano puts an end to a career of 21 seasons at the club of his life, eleven of which in the first team. He does it because of the physical problems that have accompanied him for more than a year, but also because he is disappointed with decisions that the club has taken recently. When Palamós made public the dismissal of Joan Bayona as coach, Cano already said on social networks that he had renewed his contract this season precisely because the exporter would be the coach. The farewell has made him change his perspective on a project that had excited him.

In the statement that the ex-captain made public, Cano says that he does not feel identified with the decisions that are taken and the values that are transmitted, and that he is not comfortable with the current project. The decision to fold is also conditioned by your physical condition. Last year he was diagnosed with a herniated disc and since then he has undergone treatment that has allowed him to play again, but without fully recovering the sensations of before. Cano assures that he is leaving for physical and mental health, and believes that it is the best for the good of the club, his teammates and himself. Left behind is a career at the hands of Palamós, which began when he was 5 years old and which has lasted 21 seasons, 11 with the first team and with a single short break in which he played with Llagostera. The captain thanked president Toni Heras and the board of directors, former presidents, colleagues, club workers, fans, Penya Sport and his family, for the support received during all these years.

On the other hand, next year’s shirt, the one for the 125th anniversary, will recover the horizontal stripes, as it did in the centenary season.
