Benintendi has accepted a five-year contract which will earn him $75 million, according to the ESPN network.

The 28-year-old played 126 games with the Kansas City Royals and New York Yankees, who acquired him at the trade deadline last season. He hit a .304 batting average and had five home runs and 51 RBIs.

This pact sets a new mark for the most lucrative contract offered by the White Sox during the free agency period. He exceeds the four-year, $73 million contract offered in 2020 to receiver Yasmani Grandal.

Drafted by the Boston Red Sox in 2015, Benintendi made his debut for the Massachusetts team in 2016. Two years later, he won a Golden Glove thanks to his defensive play and won the World Series with the Red Sox .
