Badminton Xàtiva achieves six medals in the last regional tournament of the year

The Xàtiva Badminton Club closes the year in style, adding six new medals. Eleven athletes from the club played last Saturday the lastLast of the regional TTR tournaments of the 2022 season, in Campelloand raised with six metals: one gold, four silver and one bronze in the categories from sub-13 to sub-19.

The maximum metal was achieved by Maria Sanz from Seta in the women’s doubles of the sub-19 category, in which he competed with Edurne Olmos (CB San Fernando de València), and after beating all the couples without giving up any set, they hung the gold. In the mixed doubles, Maria and Vicent Molina got the silver after losing in the final to Quique Gil and Sara Sáez, from Drop València, 21-14 and 21-16. Molina added another silver, in the men’s doubles, along with David Polop. The two CB Xàtiva players lost in the final against Juan Pablo de Siano and Pau Muñoz by 21-16, 19-21 and 15-21.

In sub-17, the brothers Marcos and Jesús Cimas hung the silver in the men’s doubles after falling in the final against Miguel Paya and Mateo Fernández by 21-16 and 21-15. In the individual event, the two brothers met in the quarterfinals, with victory for Jesús by 19-21, 21-11 and 23-21. He achieved bronze after falling in the semifinal against Mateo Fernández by 21-14 and 21-10. Ximo Torres and Andrea Orquín also participated in this category.

The fourth silver for Badminton Xàtiva came from the hand of Arnau Ballester in the mixed doubles in the sub-13 category, in which he competed alongside Laia Giner (CB Teulada), and were runners-up after losing to Roberto Marín and Ariadna Fabra by 15-21, 21-14 and 21-16. For their part, Xavi Roca, Feliu Terol and Martina Molina participated in the sub-15 category.

Badminton Xàtiva highlights a season finale with “a good balance of results and a very good job from the athletes who have competed in a higher category to prepare for the next season”.

Before closing the year, Badminton Xàtiva will play the Spanish Under-13 Championship, which will take place this coming weekend in the Murcian town of Las Torres de Cotillas. The event, also called Champion Wanted, will be the last of the national championships of this 2022 and will bring together some 125 athletes. Martina Molina and Feliu Terol will participate for the Setabense club, who will play the singles and mixed doubles events.

CB Xàtiva will also be in Enguera this Saturday on the first provincial day of the Sports Games of the Valencian Community in the youngest category. Six athletes from Setabense and the technician Mª José Mompó will travel to the town of Canal de Navarrés to participate in this opening day. For her part, the player Selenia Pla has been summoned to participate in the Parabadminton Modernization and Inclusion Days, which will take place in Toledo this weekend, with 15 parabadminton athletes, thirteen of them nationals and two Portuguese guests.
