Audrey Machinet and Antoine Balanant take gold in mixed teams, 3 medals for the Blues

For this penultimate day of the Countryside World Championship in Yankton, the Blues leave with 3 medals out of 4 possible in the team finals.

After a faultless run and a great victory in the semi-final against the Czech Republic, Antoine Balanant et Audrey Machinet faced Italy in the U21 Recurve Gold Final. Neck and neck with the Italians on the first target, the Blues take a decisive advantage on the second and widen the gap. Leading 60 to 57 before the last target, the duo scored 18 points and ended up winning gold with a score of 78 to 72. A world title which rewards young archers at the end of an excellent career.

Engaged in the gold final in the senior recurve bow, Aurelie Autret et Florent Mulot also met Italy after defeating the American duo led by the world No. Brady Ellison. Led by the Italians, the French archers struggled to catch up with a 17 on the second target which penalized them until the end of the match. The game ended in favor of Italy, which won 81 to 78, allowing other et field mouse to walk away with a nice silver medal.

And arc now, David Jackson et Christine Gauthé played in the small final against the United States. At the end of a close match, the duo ended up winning by a small point and hung the Bronze medal around their necks, a good taste for the archers before their respective Gold finals this Sunday.

To end the day, the women’s team played the small final against Germany. The meeting leans first on the side of the Blue who take the advantage of a point at the start of the meeting. With 9 points on the second target, the tricolors are falling behind which they will unfortunately not be able to fill despite all their efforts. At the end of the suspense, Christine Gauthé, Tiphaine Renaudin and Aurélie Autret lost 54 to 56 and saw the bronze medal escape them.

This Sunday, 5 French archers are still in the race to bring back medals. David Jackson et Christine Gauthé are engaged in the gold individual barebow finals, whileAurelie Autret, Antoine Balanant et Francois Dubois will fight for bronze in recurve and compound archery.
