We are gradually approaching the denouement of the World Cup, but for Aster Nzeyimana the tournament is over. It was the first World Cup ever for our commentator, so we like to hear about his experiences and which countries appealed to him the most.
You can’t imagine your television or radio without it for weeks, but Morocco’s match against Spain was the last achievement for Aster Nzeyimana.
“I’m definitely going to miss it,” said Nzeyimana. “I was able to experience the European Championship last summer, but the atmosphere at a World Cup is still a bit better. For me that is the ultimate. Finding the words to make a football moment a little bit more beautiful is great.”
“If you see what all this means for a football nation like Morocco … that is great. I will not soon forget the denouement in that match against Spain.”
It is a pity that the European countries were somewhat underrepresented in the stadiums.
The experience and atmosphere were often discussed in their own country, but what was it like in Qatar?
“I watched football all day and prepared myself for matches. I lived like a hermit and so it was sometimes nice to just be involved with football. I once rented a scooter to explore Doha, but it is really a special city. Not really my thing.”
“The stadiums are impressive and perfectly finished, but I didn’t think it was my place to celebrate those stadiums because you know how they came about. So it was double.”
“It is also a pity that the European countries were somewhat underrepresented in the stadiums. The atmosphere was not the same at all matches. Fans from Saudi Arabia, Iran, Qatar, Brazil and Argentina have made things up again here . Not normal.”
Who is the favorite for the title?

“After the games against Costa Rica and Germany, I really thought that Spain was ready to become world champions, but after that, cracks appeared in their armor.”
“Brazil was of course impressive, but that was not really a big challenge against South Korea. No countries have been really tested yet. What the Netherlands showed was very strong tactically, but not at all in terms of game.”
“So for me there has not been a single country that really shows that they really want to become world champions. France may be closest to that, but I have only seen them on television. That is different from when you are in the stadium .”
