American owners of Liège open their eyes to new players, including son of chairman | basketball

Liège’s years of financial worries suddenly seem to be over, now that the club is in the hands of American investors. The ambitious new owners want to pull the club out of the swamp as soon as possible, with a budget that they say can rival the top 3 in the BNXT League.

To realize those sporting ambitions, the new board wants to upholster the core with some American reinforcements. Mickeal Sports Group, the management agency that is also owned by the new bosses in Liège, has already announced 2 new transfers.

The 26-year-old American AJ John comes over from the Greek second division club Agriniou. Before that, the forward played 2 years at Skopje in Macedonia.

Also new to Liège is 23-year-old American Anthony Cambo. He is the son of Ernie Cambo, the new owner of the club. Cambo junior was recently working for the Spanish third division team Cornella. Before that he played in Puerto Rico at a club that was also owned by his father for a while.

The club also underwent a metamorphosis this week in the framework. Coach Lionel Bosco, who had guided the team to a surprising semi-final place in the cup last week, was fired. He has been replaced by American Brad Greenberg, who is bringing along an Israeli assistant.
