Albert Costa, new coach of María Camila Osorio

The Spanish Albert Costaformer ATP number 6 and Roland Garros champion in 2022, is the new coach of the Colombian tennis player María Camila Osorio, who hopes to be among the 50 best players in the world next year. ”For me it is a pleasure to start training with Camila, a young player but with a enormous potential and a very special talent. Our job will be to guide you, help you, and advise you in all areas of tennis,” Costa said in a video released in Bogotá last Friday by the player’s press office.

Costa will lead an interdisciplinary team of professionals that includes a physical trainer, physiotherapist, nutritionist, psychologist and medical services, who are available to Osorio during the 2023 season. Osorio has already started preparing his preseason with a new work team in Barcelona at the TEC Carles Ferrer Salat high performance center. Last July Osorio made the decision not to continue working with the Spanish coach Ricardo Sánchez, with whom he spent the last two years.

The woman from Cucuteña, who appears this week in position 81 in the WTA ranking, managed to advance in her professional career and win the Copa Colsanitas title in 2021, the finals of the Ladies Open in Tenerife in 2021 and the GNP Seguros de México in Last March. Furthermore, she managed outstanding performances in Grand Slam tournaments such as Wimbledon 2021, when she reached the third round, and reached her best position in the WTA by ranking 33rd in the world, April 4 of this year.
