A former cycling representative and successful coach of Jursa has died

Jursa started at the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne in the team pursuit race, in which he helped to fifth place. He won championship titles in Czechoslovakia both on the track and on the road and in cyclocross. He won the championship for the first time at the age of 19, when he defeated the famous Jan Veselý on the road.

In 1961, Jursa participated as captain of the Peace Race team. Four years earlier, he was at the birth of the cycling team Dukla Brno, where he worked in various roles until 1987.

Successful competitors such as Jan Smolík, Vlastimil Moravec, Pavel Doležel, Karel Vávra, Pavel Padrnos, Pavel Buráň, Jozef Regec and Ján Svorada grew up under his coaching.

The last farewell to Jursa will take place on Wednesday, January 4 at 2:45 p.m. in the Brno crematorium.
