WTA Finals: Caroline Garcia aims for a final – Roland-Garros

Semi-finalist of the Masters in 2017, Caroline Garcia lost there against Venus Williams. For her second participation, the French woman once again made it to the semi-finals thanks to two great group wins. First against Coco Gauff (6/4, 6/3), then against Daria Kasatkina beaten 4/6, 6/1, 7/6 (5) on Saturday evening after 2h27 of an intense fight. Beaten in the meantime by Iga Swiatek (6/3, 6/2), the Frenchwoman finished second in the Tracy Austin group behind the untouchable Pole.

Sunday evening in Fort Worth, it is against Maria Sakkari that Caroline Garcia will try to win her place in the final to become the first Frenchwoman to reach this stage of the competition at the WTA Finals since Amélie Mauresmo in 2006. A major challenge for the Lyonnaise as her future opponent seems to be on cloud nine since qualifying for this competition in which she won her three group matches against Ons Jabeur, Jessica Pegula and Aryna Sabalenka, all without losing a set.

It’s going to be a really big battle, she’s been full of confidence since qualifying in Mexico last weekcommented Caroline Garcia about her future opponent. She won her three matches here in straight sets, she will definitely be fresher than me but I will do my best to recover well, prepare well for this match and be ready!”
