World Cup: Sadio Mané, hit in the right knee, comes out after 20 minutes against Bremen…

Perhaps this is bad news for Sadio Mané and the Teranga Lions who are due to start their World Cup in a dozen days. Unless it is only a question of a minor alert or even a simple precaution on the part of the star striker of the African champions.

Still, Sadio Mané left in the 21st minute of play, injured in the right knee, Tuesday evening with Bayern Munich against Werder Bremen, twelve days before the start of the World Cup in Qatar. Hit in a duel shortly after the quarter hour, Mané lay down on the lawn and tried to continue the game after being treated for a few minutes, before signaling to his coach Julian Nagelsmann to replace him.

“I can’t say precisely what he has. He took a hit on the right kneecap, but for now I can’t say more. I didn’t see him after the match, I hope it won’t be too serious,” Nagelsmann explained after the match, awaiting further examinations to be carried out on Wednesday.

German international Leroy Sané entered in his place for this 14th day of the Bundesliga, the penultimate before the departure for the World Cup in Qatar (November 20 – December 18).

Karim Benzema’s runner-up for the 2022 Ballon d’Or, Sadio Mané is the star of Senegal, winner of the African Cup in early February, Champions League finalist with Liverpool in June, before joining Munich in the summer.

Senegal begins its World Cup on November 21 against the Netherlands. The 2022 African champions are in Group A which also includes hosts Qatar and Ecuador.
