Suddenly she disappeared from the live broadcast – and for a sad reason.
The World Cup television expert Nadia Nadim (34) mourns her mother. She died in a traffic accident on Tuesday while Nadim was a guest on the British TV station “itv” as an expert on the World Cup match between Denmark and Tunisia (0-0).
After the game, the Danish international was absent from the discussion that followed. She made the reason public on Instagram.
Nadim posted a black image. She wrote: “I lost the most important person in my life and it was so sudden and unexpected. She was only 57. Words cannot describe how I feel.”
Accordingly, Hadima Nadim was hit by a truck on Tuesday morning. She was on her way back from the gym – and died.
“I lost my home. And I know that nothing will ever feel the same again. Life is unfair and I don’t understand why her and why this way. I love you and I will see you again,” wrote the grieving football expert.
Born and raised in Afghanistan, Nadim lost her father as a child.
He was a general in the Afghan army and was executed by the Taliban in 2000. At the age of 11, Nadim fled to Denmark with her mother and siblings, where she began playing soccer as a teenager.
Later she stormed for Manchester City and Paris St. Germain, among others. She is currently under contract with the US club Racing Louisville. She made her international debut in 2009 and has scored 38 goals in 103 games to date.
In 2018, Forbes magazine ranked her #20 on its list of “The Most Powerful Women in International Sports.”
And off the pitch, striker Nadim has a lot to offer: in January she graduated as a doctor.
