This summer Lamkel Zé settled in Kortrijk. He signed a three-year contract. But after one sixth of that commitment, the Cameroonian says he is already leaving. “Given my qualities, I know that I am better than Kortrijk,” he tells RTBF. “That was also the agreement with Matthias Leterme (general director of the Chamber of Commerce, ed.) when I signed here. I need a bigger challenge to level up and relaunch my career. This is an offer I cannot refuse. Ferencvaros is a great club. It plays European every year. They wanted me when I played at Antwerp. I can say with 90% certainty that I will go to Hungary in January.”

A word of thanks followed. “I will always be grateful to Kortrijk, because it attracted me while my image in Belgium was tarnished. Chamber of Commerce paid 500,000 euros. If I can bring them extra money now, they will gladly allow it. It’s my way of thanking this warm club. In January we will shake hands on good terms. Until then I will continue to give everything for KVK. It’s a quiet club where everyone trusts me and there are no problems. But it is time for me to turn the Belgian page.” Kortrijk, however, is not pleased with Lamkel Zé’s interview. KVK coach Adnan Custovic has decided not to include him in the selection for tomorrow evening’s game against KV Oostende.

Lamkel Zé appeals against punishment after dressing room videos

Lamkel Zé does not agree with the punishment he received from the Disciplinary Committee of Professional Football for his offensive videos after the game against Antwerp earlier this season. In this context, he had to talk to the Antwerp board and the fans. The Disciplinary Council will deal with the case on Tuesday, November 8, the Belgian Football Association (RBFA) announced this week.

After a match in which he excelled and celebrated defiantly, but also received (racist) insults, Didier Lamkel Zé celebrated the 2-1 victory exuberantly in the dressing room. He filmed himself saying “fuck you” and raising his middle finger to “les gens d’Antwerp”. In a text box he also wrote “FUCK ANTWERP”.

To do this, Lamkel Zé had to talk to Antwerp and its supporters of the Disciplinary Committee within ten days. That thought that de Kortrijkzaan had not maintained his exemplary function as a professional football player. The racism and insults were taken into account.
