Will the Cowboys try to bolster their offense with Odell Beckham Jr.?

While it’s true that the Cowboys haven’t been able to make a trade other than Johnathan Hankins, that doesn’t mean they aren’t interested in making another big move in the next few days. Much is said about the possibility of acquiring free agent Odell Beckham Jr. All in order to reinforce the cowboy offense for the last stage of the regular season.

Stephen Jones himself spoke to the media about the reasons why they did not trade. However, he left the door open to the possibility of acquiring some other item in another way. That is why the rumor that Dallas can get the services of OBJ are getting stronger.

However, there is a detail with the receiver, and that is that he is still injured since the last edition of the Super Bowl. So, this is why the offense won’t be ready until December. And of course, this is the main reason why the player is still a free agent. But all this may change since it seems that not only the Cowboys would be interested.

According to recent reports, the Giants, Bills and Rams also have some interest in the WR. As far as the New York team is concerned, it could be the return of the player who was the Giants’ 12th pick in the 2014 Draft. OBJ would spend five years playing for the Cowboys’ NFC East rival, then move on to the Browns in the 2020 season and part of the 2021 season. After being released on November 8 of that year, on the 11th of that same month he would end up signing with the Rams. He achieving the first score of the Los Angeles team in the LVI edition of the Super Bowl. As already mentioned, the receiver would end up injured with a torn anterior cruciate ligament during the game against the Bengals.

Returning to the Giants, the organization’s general manager Joe Schoen spoke to the media on Tuesday. He was discussing the possibility of signing OBJ, since the New Yorkers are going to need offensive strength in the passing game. Especially since they are largely dependent on the ground game.

Other than that, he totally affirmed the fact that the Giants have been in contact with the receiver’s representatives. So the possibility that the Cowboys’ rival may be very close to signing the player is not ruled out.

Still, the Bills are 6-1 and may want to get Beckham Jr. to keep production going. Likewise, the Rams should not be left out either. After all, their offensive production has dwindled badly and they sit third in the NFC West with a 3-4 record.

Going back to Dallas, perhaps the only detail that could prevent a possible signing of Odell Beckham Jr. is the athlete’s financial terms. Don’t forget that part of Dallas’ philosophy is not to spend a lot of money on players who haven’t been brought up within the franchise. Regardless of the level or fame that a player may have in the NFL. The most they could possibly offer OBJ is a one-year deal. While the receiver might want a multi-year extension and guarantee a few million dollars.

Either way, if things don’t pan out with the receiver, there are still a few elements in free agency that could draw the Cowboys’ attention. Among them, Will Fuller and TY Hilton. In the case of the former, it is rumored that he may have retired from the league. However, his name did appear in the trade window, despite being a free agent. And as for Hilton, he’s already out of contract with the Colts after the 2021 season and is still without a team.

Certainly, the OBJ rumors are pretty strong, but if the deal happens, it will be on the Cowboys’ terms. All you have to do is be patient and wait for what happens. Likewise, they will not be able to use the player until December, so in a hypothetical case, he would be available only for the final stretch of the campaign and the postseason.
