Wearing the Rainbow LGBT captain’s armband, player gets a yellow card before kickoff

Jakarta, CNNIndonesia

Players who wear the rainbow captain LGBT or One Love in World Cup 2022 threatened to get a yellow card before kickoff.

Team captains from nine European teams, including Harry Kane (England), Gareth Bale (Wales) and Manuel Neuer (Germany), plan to wear the pelagic captain’s armband.

Her main goal is to campaign for LGBTQ+ rights in Qatar, a conservative country that is seen as criminalizing same-sex relationships.

The Daily Mail reports that currently the German Football Federation (DFB) is carefully considering whether Neuer should wear the captain’s armband given the threat of a yellow card sanction.

Meanwhile, Kane is expected to insist on wearing rainbow armbands against Iran in their Group B opener. England coach Gareth Southgate has emphatically offered his support.

However, FIFA actually issued a new regulation to support the Qatar government’s regulation which does not allow LGBT campaigns.

“At FIFA tournaments, match staff must wear the official attire and equipment provided by FIFA, including the FIFA event logos specified and provided by FIFA.”

“Unofficial clothing such as One Love armbands can be considered illegal, and players who wear them can be fined or shown a yellow card,” said a FIFA statement quoted by the Daily Mail.

FA Chief Executive Mark Bullingham insists England are willing to be fined for wearing the One Love captain’s armband at the 2022 World Cup.

“We have made it clear as a team, staff and organizationally that we want to wear the captain’s armband. The FA are talking to FIFA at the moment and I’m sure we will have their decision tomorrow. [Senin 21 November],” said Southgate.
