WC football | A Mexican fan tried to smuggle alcohol into the World Cup stadium in binoculars

A video of a Mexico fan unsuccessfully trying to enter the stadium with alcohol hidden in binoculars is circulating on social media.

In the video, a fan in a green Mexico jersey can be seen at the scanners, where a security guard looks incredulously through his binoculars. On closer inspection, one of them realizes that something is amiss. When he unscrews one of the parts and smells the liquid contents, everything becomes clear to him.

Of course, the fan had to say goodbye to his binoculars on the way to the stadium.

Under pressure from the Qatari royal family, a ban on the sale of beer before matches and in the stadium was issued two days before the start of the championship.

Alcohol is an almost unaffordable commodity in this Muslim country. Supporters can buy beer in the fan zones, where one pint of alcoholic beer costs 335 kroner, non-alcoholic beer 280. But they can only buy it after 7 p.m. and only 4 glasses at a time.
