Vincent Janssen and Noa Lang feature in Netherlands squad for 2022 World Cup

Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal announced on Friday the list of 26 players selected for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar (November 20-December 18). Vincent Janssen (Antwerp) and Noa Lang (Club de Bruges) will be the two representatives of the Jupiler Pro League in the selection of the ‘Oranje’

Janssen, 28, has scored eight goals in 22 appearances for Antwerp since the start of the season. The Dutch striker is also the fourth best artificer this season in the Jupiler Pro League.

Hampered by an ankle injury at the start of the season, Lang now has substitute status at Club Brugge. Nevertheless, the 23-year-old was picked up by Louis van Gaal.

The ‘Oranje’ will also be able to rest on their executives with Virgil van Dijk, Matthijs de Ligt, Frenkie de Jong, or even Memphis Depay. Xavi Simons and Jérémie Frimpong are called up for the A team for the first time.

The Netherlands were dropped into Group A in Qatar. In addition to the host country, the Dutch will also face Ecuador and Senegal, against whom they will begin their competition on November 21.
