The car went off the road near the town of Wanze on Sunday during the Condroz-Huy rally, according to the authorities. The two fatalities are a 16-year-old girl and an 18-year-old man.

According to prosecutors, several other people were injured in the accident. The organizer of the rally announced that one of the participating drivers and another person had been hospitalized. However, both of them are not in mortal danger.

Causes not yet fully clarified

The exact causes of the accident were initially clear. A spokesman for the prosecutor’s office told the AFP news agency that, according to an expert, the road was slippery at the time of the accident due to rain. Alcohol tests on the driver of the accident car and the passenger were reportedly negative.

Investigators also investigated whether the two teenagers killed might have been in an area that was not open to spectators. The last stage of the rally was canceled after the accident.
