Two recruits at Saint-Dizier basketball

BASKETBALL. In bad shape in the Pre-National championship with only one victory since the start of the season and a penultimate place in the standings, the flag team of Saint-Dizier basketball intends to react well.

In order to strengthen the senior group, made up mainly of young people trained at the club, the leaders recruited a new employee in the person of Maxence Wéry in mid-November. Originally from Charleville-Mézières, he played last season at Haute-Provence basketball in Manosque. A graduate sports educator, Maxence Wéry was notably French junior second division champion in 2010 and then went through the Châlons-Reims training center where he played with the Prénationale team then in Vrigne-aux-Bois and Navarrenx (Pyrenees -Atlantic). “Coming to Saint-Dizier brings me closer to my family who live in the Ardennes. I also had an offer in Belgium”, explains Maxence Wéry, 29 years old. Who will not only be a player of the pennant team but also a technical manager in order to supervise the training of the young teams from U7 to U17 and will specifically accompany the U11 team.

“Succeeding the maintenance operation”

“In the first team there are many young people aged 16 to 19 who were crowned runners-up in the Grand-Est last season. To Alban Cordero, Simon André and I to supervise them and to succeed in the maintenance operation which is important for the club and the image of the city, ”slips Maxence Wéry. At the regional level in Navarrenx, it turned “between 20 and 30 points on average”. The new SDB employee also supervises the Anne-Frank College basketball sports section on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

A second reinforcement arrived on Thursday 17 November. This is the rear Jean Lemaître, 29 years old and measuring 2.02 m. He too was junior French champion in 2010 with Charleville and knows Maxence Wéry well. He evolved in N1 in Charleville-Mézières where he trained with the professional group, played in N3 in Vrigne-aux-Bois and has the experience of the Prénationale with the reserve team of Charleville. After a season without playing, he arrives free within the bragard club. “These two arrivals will do us good to revive us in the months to come,” commented Marc Sarlet, the coach.
