The WRC seasons end with Neville’s victory at the Japan Rally

“Hyundai Shell Mobis” driver Neville fought with Briton Elfin Evans (Toyota Gazoo) until the 16th of 19 stages, but after the collision, the competitor lost a lot of time to change a flat tire. After the first stage of the day, only six tenths of a second separated the drivers.

In the end, Neville won a convincing victory, beating his teammate, Estonian Ota Tenaka, by more than a minute, and Japanese Takamoto Katsu (Toyota Gazoo) by more than two minutes.

In the end, Evans settled for fifth place, but this season’s champion – Finland’s Kalle Rovanpere, who once won two Latvian championship titles – finished the season in 12th position. Rowanpere secured the title at Rally New Zealand two stages before the end of the season.

Rovanpere accumulated 255 points in 13 stages, Tenak became the runner-up with 205 points, and Neville was in a stable third position with 193 points. “Toyota Gazoo” triumphed in the team competition.

14 stages are planned for the next season’s calendar, but a year later the Latvian stage could debut in the WRC calendar.
