While the entire Juventus board of directors resigned on Monday evening, including president Andrea Agnelli as well as Pavel Nedved and Maurizio Arrivabene, the Spanish Football League (LaLiga), led by the highly publicized Javier Tebas, has called for urgent sporting sanctions for the Juventus club in a press release published this Tuesday morning on its official website. As a reminder, Juventus is accused by the Turin public prosecutor’s office of false corporate communications, false communications intended for the market, obstruction of the exercise of public supervisory authorities, market manipulation and use of invoices for non-existent operations.
“Following the resignation of the Juventus board, LaLiga calls for the immediate application of sporting sanctions against the club. LaLiga already filed a formal complaint against Juventus with UEFA in April 2022, in which they allege breaches of Financial Fair Play rules being investigated by Italy’s Guardia di Finanza. In particular, the accusation of having over-valued transfers and underestimated personnel costs, in breach of UEFA’s financial fair play. Furthermore, the complaint accuses Juventus of concealing the true cost of their players’ salaries.one can read, among other things, in this note concluded by the short sentence: “Let’s protect our football”.
