The new Lancia Delta electric car will make its World RX debut this week – Motor sports – Sportacentrs.com

A year ago, the unit led by the Frenchman Guerlain Chischeri announced a plan to create an RX1e class racing vehicle that meets the new technical regulations on the basis of the legendary “Lanci Delta” car. Now the time has come for the debut of this car in the world championship.

The final stage of the season will take place in Germany this week. The usual line-up will be supplemented by Shisheri with his new car, but he will not be the only newcomer this season. At this stage, Anton Marklund will experience his return after a year’s break. This season, the Swedish pilot fought with Jānis Bauman for the title in the European Rallycross Championship in the RX1 class and became the champion. He has joined the “All-inkl.com Muennich Motorsport” team and will compete in the “Seat Ibiza RX1e” car.

At one time, the Lancia Delta was well known in the World Rally Championship. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, it was very successful. Five times the Italian car factory won the manufacturer’s rating, and three times the title was also won in the driver’s classification with this car. Under the influence of the events of that time, the idea for such a rally cross project also arose in Šišeri.

The drivetrain was made in the “GCK Performance” workshop in the middle of France. It is said that 12 thousand hours were spent on creating the chassis. The car is equipped with two electric motors that develop a power of 500kW, which equates to 680 horsepower. The last time Shisheri competed in the world championship was a year ago right here at the Nürburgring.
