The new council of Oviedo already exercises: the keys before the meeting

Oviedo de Pachuca will take an important step this afternoon in the institutional section with the aim of having more agility in decision-making. The blue club will make effective at today’s shareholders’ meeting (5:00 p.m., Calatrava Conference Center) the appointment of three new directors – Jose Ramon Fernandez, Gerardo Cabrera y Peter Cedillo– and the “non-continuity” in the directive of Jorge Menendez Vallina, as THE NEW SPAIN advanced. This is the first change of draft by Pachuca, owner of the club, after the landing of Martin Pelaezblue president.

The new advisers have been in the city for days – Cedillo’s arrival was scheduled for last night – and they are already working at the club. The three Mexican executives are men who are the most trusted by Jesús Martínez who had already been dealing with various matters for the Oviedo entity. Now they will continue to do so with their own position on the board and maintaining continuous contact with Martín Peláez from Mexico, where they will continue to reside.

Pachuca’s movement on the board is intended to give the council a new look. The business group believes that the new directors, with different profiles and experts in different fields, will help the club grow and adapt it to the idiosyncrasies of the Aztec conglomerate led by Jesús Martínez, who in mid-December will travel to Oviedo to see firsthand hand the changes in the club. “We are happy and calm and there will be minimal changes. It is a commitment that we have with the shareholders – today’s meeting – but we are more interested in people seeing the day to day. We have to inform our shareholders and it will be a pleasure to do so We are here to listen, what shareholders contribute will be taken into account. We will try to live up to them,” said Martín Peláez, blue president, yesterday, who took the opportunity to assess the departure of Jorge Menéndez Vallina from the structure, “a person important for Oviedo and for Pachuca, but there are cycles that end. He will always be part of Oviedo’s history”.

Fernández and Cabrera, who had been in Oviedo in August, were yesterday together with Peláez and Manuel Paredes, who is still on the council, at the presentation of an exhibition organized by the blue clubs, “50 years by your side”, at the venue de Trascorrales, where they took the opportunity to make ties with fans, politicians, club members and other people related to Oviedism. The other counselor, Fernando Corral, was not on a trip to Madrid. Alfredo Canteli, mayor of the city, attended at the end of the act together with Nacho Cuesta, first deputy mayor, and wished the best of luck to the new council. “Our support is total, Oviedo is our team and we are already getting out of the quagmire below. Let’s see if he starts to win games and we’ll get on top soon. Winning three games quickly places you in the play-off, just as it places you down if you lose them. We are playing better, winning games and very soon we will be applauding for being up there,” said Canteli. “I am sure that Martín, who is smart, has done well and I only wish him success in managing him,” the mayor concluded about the changes in the council. Oviedo, among other matters, will submit the approval of the entity’s annual accounts today at the meeting “on first call; and, if applicable, the following day, at the same place and time, on second call.” Those shareholders who have four or more shares after accreditation can attend.
