Five Argentines and three foreigners will star this Friday in the quarterfinals of the ITF W15, a professional women’s tennis tournament that takes place at the Club Náutico Mar del Plata.
Among the eight that continue in competition, the first three favorites appear.
On the one hand, the German Luisa Meyer auf der Heide (No. 1) defeated the Argentine Josefina Estévez, 6-2 and 6-3, with solid tennis and without major drawbacks.
In turn, Berta Bonardi (No. 2) from Pergamin imposed conditions on the Mexican Marian Gómez Pezuela, and beat her 6-3, 6-3.
And the Brazilian Ana Candiotto (No. 3), one of those who has most impressed with her game, clearly beat Valentin Mutilba, 6-1, 6-1.
Also continuing in the tournament are the sixth favorite, Luisina Giovannini, who signed a resounding victory against Marina Bulbarella, 6-0 and 6-2, and the Peruvian of Russian origin, Anastasia Iamachkine, who beat María Victoria Burstein, by 6 -0 and 6-1.
Another one who is playing very well, Chiara Di Génova from Buenos Aires got rid of Tiziana Rossini without problems, by 6-3 and 6-2; and the youngster from Tandil Sol Larraya Guidi (14 years old, the only qualifier that continues advancing in the tournament) is already among the eight best after beating Guillermina Silva (wild-card), 6-4 and 7-5.
The last passenger in the quarterfinals is Lourdes Ayala, after defeating María Agustina Fariña (coming from the qualy), 6-2 and 6-4.
In the doubles box, the four semifinalist couples are already known. The crosses will be:
Luciana Blatter-Josefina Esteve vs. Luciana Blatter Katja Markus-Sol Rabin, in a 100% Argentine duel, and Luisina Giovannini-Tiziana Rossi vs. Katja Markus-Sol Rabin, in a 100% Argentine duel. Ana Candiotto-Anastasia Iamachkine (Brazil-Peru).
At night, the organization of the tournament held the official press conference at the Espacio Vilas, which was attended by Daniel Larreina (a reference for the club’s tennis and main ideologue of the Espacio Vilas, which operates at the Náutico and is already celebrating one year since its creation), Jimena Etcheberry and Mariana Díaz Oliva, both from Tenis x Ellas, the foundation that promotes this and other women’s tournaments, and the sensation of the draw, Sol Larraya Guidi from Tandil.

The contest is played on brick dust and distributes $15,000 in prizes and points for the WTA ranking.
