The 2022 Cancun Badminton Cup is a complete success

The competition was developed with the participation of 80 players from eight different schools, in categories from Sub-9 to Master

With the participation of new state teams and those from Yucatan as special guests, the 2022 Cancun Badminton Tournament was a success, in which, according to the president of the state association, Alejandro Orozco, now “growth was noticed”. of this sport in Quintana Roo by participating in different categories.

“We are very happy because it is the first time that new teams have participated with us. On this occasion, the growth of badminton in Quintana Roo is noticeable, we already have more schools and fortunately everyone returned home with a medal or a place they won,” said the head of the association.

After intense meetings on the day of the grand final of the tournament held with the participation of more than 80 players from eight different schools, in nine different categories, Alejandro Orozco said he felt motivated to continue promoting this sport in the entity in order to reach a better competitive level.

“This has us very motivated to continue and have better presentations later,” he said.

The 2022 Cancun Cup played at the Poliforum Benito Juárez had the registration of players from 12 schools of Othón P. Blanco, Anáhuac, La Salle, Cecilio Chi, Wichita, Yucatán, Kuchil Baxal, Masters Cancún, Solidaridad, Mexico City and the State Selection of Quintana Roo.

The competition was developed in the categories Sub-9, Sub-11, Sub-13, Sub-15, Sub-17, Open Initiation, Open and Master.

Among the results, the winners of the Women’s Under-17 stand out, in which Kassandra Luna (Yucatán), Isabel Meling (Quintana Roo National Team), Mariana Seita (Yucatán) and María Narváez (Quintana Roo National Team) finished in the first places, in both Elmer Ortega (Yucatán), Ruiz (Yucatán), Ángel Gamborino (CDMX) and Patricio Meling (Quintana Roo National Team) monopolized the top positions in the men’s category.

The players Daniela Cruz and Andrea Cruz from the Cecilio Chi school took first and second place, respectively, and Natalia Meling (Anáhuac) and Natalia Martín (Quintana Roo National Team) stayed in third place in the Women’s Open.

While Cristopher Varela (Anáhuac), Ricardo Orozco (Quintana Roo National Team), Francisco Flores (Independiente) and Elmer Ortega (Yucatán) climbed to the podium of winners of the Men’s branch.
