Taekwondo – First medal in nine years – Sport

Taekwondoka Lorena Brandl won the bronze medal in Guadalajara/Mexico, Germany’s first women’s world championships medal since 2013. In the class from 73 kg, the sports soldier lost in the semifinals to Dana Azran from Israel. “It’s my first medal at the World Championships and I’m just proud. It was a very special feeling to fight in front of this backdrop,” said Brandl. The 25-year-old had already written a piece of German Taekwondo history in October when she became the first woman in the German association to win gold in a Grand Prix. The women won their last World Cup medals in 2013, also in Mexico. At that time, Anna-Lena Frömming (up to 57 kg) and Rabia Gülec (up to 62 kg) each took bronze in Puebla.
