Sports world: “Japan topples Germany in Spain group! The Japanese selection manages a historic win against the four-time world champion.”

The country: “Flick’s move makes Germany crumble against Japan. The German team had clearly asserted themselves until the coach allowed the Japanese to catch up by replacing Gündogan and Musiala with Goretzka and Götze.”

Great Britain:

Daily Mirror: “Another day, another World Cup shock. Germany traveled to Qatar as one of the tournament favorites, but two Bundesliga players, Ritsu Doan and Takuma Asano, scored within eight minutes of the second half and brought Hansi Flick’s team to the brink of elimination after just one game.”

The Guardian: “Japan’s first win against Germany rocked the World Cup and was the reward for Hajime Moriyasu’s bravery.”

Italy:

The Republic: “Germany’s crushing defeat against Japan. Germany meets Spain on Sunday in a game that will probably be decisive in progress.”

France

Le Figaro: “Japan’s masterpiece bears the signature of Hajime Moriyasu. Appointed after the 2018 World Cup, where the Blue Samurai were honorably eliminated by Belgium (2-3 in the round of 16), the Japan national team coach single-handedly brought about this comeback.”

Austria:

Kronen newspaper: “Germany got off to a bad start at the World Cup in Qatar: Four years after the World Cup debacle in Russia, the DFB team surprisingly lost 2-1 (1-0) to Japan at the start on Wednesday!”

Switzerland

Blick: “The protest gesture of the DFB stars describes more than football Germany would like. The hand-over-the-mouth gesture in the team photo should be a symbol of forbidden opinion, because Fifa prevented the wearing of the “One Love” captain’s armband. Now it also stands for the mood in the country: Our northern neighbors are stunned after the 1-2 debacle against Japan at the start of the World Cup.”
