Spurs go under with defending champions

The San Antonio Spurs had no chance against the Golden State Warriors in the National Basketball Association (NBA) on Monday. The 95:132 at the defending champion was the highest away defeat of the season so far. Jakob Pöltl scored six points, ten rebounds and one assist and one block in 20:20 minutes.

The reigning NBA champion quickly took charge in front of 18,000 spectators at the packed Chase Center in San Francisco and was always ahead from the 21:20 into the ninth minute of the game. When the Warriors extended their lead to 41 points early in the final quarter, the Texans were threatened with their biggest loss of the season.

Jordan Poole recorded 36 points for the winners. The Spurs, who are back in action at the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday, were led by Keldon Johnson by 15 points.

Because the Milwaukee Bucks lost 106:121 to the Atlanta Hawks despite the return and 27 points from Giannis Antetokounmpo and thus suffered their second loss in a row, the Boston Celtics are the new NBA leader. The record champions celebrated their seventh win in a row with a 126:122 against the Oklahoma City Thunder, which was only fixed in the finish.
