Spanish badminton sets the spotlight at the Mexican International Challenge

Spanish badminton is already aiming for the Mexican International Challenge 2022, which will take place this Tuesday in Guadalajara. After the success of Kike Peñalver and Clara Azurmendi in the Peru Challenge, it’s time to jump on the track in Mexican lands. This same venue will host from Friday the 25th the first Iberoamerican Championship.

This Tuesday the preliminary phase of the Mexican International Challenge begins with the presence of Álvaro Leal and Ernesto Baschwitz in individual and the mixed doubles of Paula López and Jacobo Fernández. Leal faces the Argentine Nicolas Oliva and Baschwitz, the Costa Rican Marco Castillo. The doubles of López and Fernández, enters directly in the second round of the previous one to face the Mexicans Irving Perez and Cecilia Madera.

Already on Wednesday Carlos Piris and Ania Setién will enter the fray in the individual tests and the pairs Joan Monroy-Carlos Piris, Jacobo Fernández – Rubén García, Ernesto Baschwitz – Álvaro Leal and Ania Setién – Joan Monroy.

Clara Azurmendi, Bea Corrales, Kike Peñalver and the technical director Arturo Ruiz are no longer in the Spanish delegation, as they have returned to Spain to prepare for the next goals. In the next tournaments the Spanish team will be headed by the CAR coach Manuel Vázquez.
